Zernio Alternatives (Formerly Late, getlate.dev)

Zernio Alternatives (Formerly Late, getlate.dev)

The best Zernio alternatives in 2026 are PostSider (an agent drafts, a person approves in a dashboard), Buffer (a free plan that includes MCP), Ayrshare (a long-running API for SaaS products), Upload-Post (the cheapest wide network coverage) and Blotato (when the agent must generate the media too). If you searched for Late or getlate.dev: that is the same product. Late rebranded to Zernio, and the old URLs redirect.

I build PostSider, one of the tools below, so price that bias in. Vendor facts were checked against each company’s own pricing and documentation pages on October 18, 2026.

Checked October 18, 2026 against each vendor’s pricing page and docs. Monthly billing unless stated.

Read the units before the prices. A Zernio “account” and a PostSider or Buffer “channel” are the same thing: one connected social account. An Ayrshare or Upload-Post “profile” is a bundle that holds one account on each network, so a single profile can cover a whole brand.

What Zernio is now, and what happened to Late

Zernio is a unified social media API. One call publishes or schedules to every network in a platforms array, and the same API covers analytics, comments, direct messages, ads and webhooks. Its docs list 15+ networks; Zernio’s own pages put the number at 14, 15 or 16 depending on which one you read.

The rebrand changed less than the name suggests. Zernio’s rebrand page says the API, team and infrastructure stayed the same, every getlate.dev URL redirects, and the old SDK package names keep working for six months. The Node SDK is now @zernio/node, and there are official libraries for Python, Go, Ruby, Java, PHP, .NET and Rust.

For agents, Zernio runs one hosted MCP server at mcp.zernio.com/mcp. You sign in with your Zernio account over OAuth, so no key goes in a config file, and its docs say the server exposes 496 tools, one per API endpoint. That is thorough. It is also a lot of tool definitions for a model to read before it posts anything, so test how your client handles the list.

Pricing changed at the same time. Zernio dropped its four plans and three paid add-ons and now bills per connected account:

Connected accountsPrice per account per month
1 to 2Free
3 to 10$6
11 to 100$3
101 to 2,000$1
Over 2,000Custom

Zernio pricing page, checked October 18, 2026. Bands are graduated: account 11 does not reprice accounts 3 to 10.

Two costs sit on top. X API usage is passed through at X’s own per-request rates (Zernio’s page quotes $0.005 per read and $0.015 per DM sent), and messages sent from the inbox are metered after the first 10,000 a month. If your workload is X-heavy, model that line separately.

How to list scheduled posts with the Zernio (getlate.dev) API

This is the question that brings people to a Late alternative page, so here is the answer first. Per Zernio’s docs, GET /v1/posts accepts a status filter with the values draft, scheduled, publishing, published, partial, failed and cancelled, sorts by scheduled-desc by default, and can filter by accountId and profileId:

curl "https://zernio.com/api/v1/posts?status=scheduled" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $ZERNIO_API_KEY"

To check one post, call GET /v1/posts/{postId}. It reads scheduled until its time, then publishing, then published, or failed or partial when a network rejects it. The old getlate.dev host redirects, but point new code at zernio.com.

The PostSider equivalent reads a date window and returns {posts: [...]}. Note the API key goes in Authorization without Bearer:

curl "https://api.postsider.com/public/v1/posts?startDate=2026-10-19T00:00:00Z&endDate=2026-10-26T00:00:00Z" \
  -H "Authorization: $POSTSIDER_API_KEY"

The full request reference, including approval endpoints and webhooks, is on the social media scheduler API page.

Zernio vs Buffer in 2026: what 5 to 100 accounts cost

Zernio is cheaper than Buffer at every size, and PostSider is cheaper than both from 10 accounts up. Here is the monthly bill, same unit across all three (one connected social account):

AccountsZernioBuffer EssentialsBuffer TeamPostSider
5$18$30$60$20 (Standard)
10$48$60$120$35 (Team)
20$78$120$240$45 (Pro)
30$108$180$360$45 (Pro)
100$318$600$1,200$90 (Ultimate)

Computed from each vendor’s published monthly prices, checked October 18, 2026. Zernio figures exclude X API pass-through and metered inbox messages.

The table hides the real difference. Buffer is a finished social media dashboard for a team posting to its own accounts: calendar, queue, approvals and unlimited users on Team, and a free plan with API and MCP access. Zernio is infrastructure for developers who are building that dashboard, or an agent, for somebody else. Compare them only if you are unsure which of those two jobs you have.

My rule: if the accounts belong to your company or your clients and a person looks at posts, compare Buffer and PostSider. If the accounts belong to your users and they connect them through your app, compare Zernio and Ayrshare. The PostSider vs Buffer breakdown has the dashboard side in detail.

When to stay on Zernio

Stay if you are building a product. Per-account pricing that falls to $1 an account past 100 is hard to beat when thousands of your users connect their own profiles, and none of the dashboard tools here are priced for that.

Stay if you need the inbox or ads through the same API. Zernio covers comments, direct messages and ad accounts. PostSider has no inbox and no ads, and I am not going to pretend otherwise.

Stay if your stack is not JavaScript. Zernio ships SDKs in eight languages. PostSider’s only SDK is @postsider/node; from Python or Go you call the REST API directly.

Leave when a person has to approve posts and you do not want to build that screen, when your team needs a calendar more than an SDK, or when you need networks Zernio does not publish to. Mastodon, Dev.to and Hashnode did not appear in any Zernio network list I found.

PostSider: an agent and a person in the same queue

Best for: teams and agencies where an AI agent drafts and someone signs off before anything goes live.

PostSider is a social media dashboard and an agent bridge in one product. A post your agent creates over MCP lands in the same calendar a person uses, goes through the same draft, review and approve flow, and shows up in the same history. Chat clients connect to the hosted server at https://mcp.postsider.com/mcp with OAuth. Terminal agents like Claude Code can run @postsider/mcp locally with an API key. The MCP server page has setup for each client, and the REST API is documented on the scheduler API page.

The limits, plainly. No inbox, no ads, no social listening, no SSO. Approvals start on Team at $35 a month for 10 channels, not on the $20 Standard plan. Tiers stop at 100 channels, so PostSider is the wrong pick for a product with thousands of end users. Its built-in AI only checks posts and rewrites captions; your own model does the writing.

Where it wins is breadth and the human gate: 30+ networks including Reddit, Mastodon, Discord, Telegram, Dev.to and Hashnode (see all platforms), and a flat $45 for 30 channels where Zernio charges $108.

Buffer: the free alternative that speaks MCP

Best for: a small team that wants a finished dashboard and a free plan its agent can use.

Buffer’s free plan covers 3 channels with API and MCP access, capped at 3,000 API requests per 30 days. Its remote MCP server at mcp.buffer.com/mcp lists channels, reads queues, creates and edits posts and pulls analytics. Essentials is $6 per channel a month; Team is $12 per channel and adds approvals and unlimited users. Buffer also has a Community inbox for comments.

The catch for agencies: Buffer API keys are personal, and its MCP docs describe a key reaching every organization and channel that user can see. Decide whether that scope is acceptable before you connect an agent.

Ayrshare: the long-running API for SaaS products

Best for: developers building social media publishing into a SaaS product, who want a vendor with years of API history.

Ayrshare is the closest like-for-like replacement for Zernio. It bills per social profile (one profile holds one end user’s networks): Premium is $149 a month for 1 profile, Launch $299 for 10, Business $599 for 30. It publishes to 13 networks and runs a hosted MCP server at api.ayrshare.com/mcp covering posts, analytics, comments, messages and ads. Approval is a requiresApproval flag your code releases; the screen is yours to build.

At small scale Ayrshare costs far more than Zernio. It earns the money with maturity and per-profile isolation per customer. The Ayrshare vs PostSider comparison goes deeper.

Upload-Post: the cheapest posting API by profile

Best for: a developer who wants one upload call to reach the most networks for the least money.

Upload-Post counts 22 networks, ships Python and JavaScript SDKs, and runs a hosted MCP server. The free tier gives 10 uploads a month across 2 profiles (TikTok needs a paid plan). Basic is $24 a month for 5 profiles with unlimited uploads. Because a profile holds one account per network, 5 brands on 6 networks each fit inside Basic, where Zernio would bill 30 accounts at $108.

What you give up: no approval queue, no inbox, and a narrower API than Zernio’s.

Blotato: when the agent must make the media

Best for: creators whose agent has to generate the image or video, not just post it.

Blotato Starter is $29 a month for 20 accounts plus 1,250 AI credits for images, video and voice. It publishes to 9 networks through a hosted MCP server. The trial excludes the API: generating a key starts the paid plan. No built-in approvals. My Blotato alternatives post covers its tradeoffs in full.

Moving off Zernio: what to map first

If you are already live on Zernio or Late, the switch is mostly bookkeeping. Check these before you cut over:

  1. Account IDs. Zernio posts take an account ID per network. Export the mapping from each brand to its accounts, then reconnect them on the new tool and rebuild the mapping.
  2. Scheduled posts. Anything already queued in Zernio publishes from Zernio. Pause or delete it there after recreating it on the new side, or it goes out twice.
  3. Webhooks. List the events your app listens for (published, failed) and confirm the new tool sends an equivalent.
  4. Retries. Make sure a retried request cannot create a duplicate post. Idempotency for social posting covers the pattern.
  5. Inbox and ads. If your product reads DMs or runs ads through Zernio, PostSider and Upload-Post will not replace that part. Keep Zernio for it or pick Ayrshare.

Every head-to-head I have written is on the compare page, and PostSider’s tiers are on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Is Zernio the same product as Late (getlate.dev)?

Yes. Late rebranded to Zernio. Zernio's rebrand page says the API, team and infrastructure stayed the same, getlate.dev URLs redirect to the new domain, and the old SDK package names keep working for a six-month grace period. If you are searching for a Late or getlate.dev alternative, this comparison covers it.

Is there a free Zernio alternative?

Zernio itself is free for the first 2 connected accounts. Buffer's free plan covers 3 channels and includes API and MCP access, capped at 3,000 API requests per 30 days. Upload-Post has a free tier of 10 uploads a month across 2 profiles, without TikTok. PostSider has no free plan, only a 7-day trial without a card.

Does Zernio have an API and an MCP server?

Yes. Zernio is an API-first product with a REST API, official SDKs in eight languages (Node, Python, Go, Ruby, Java, PHP, .NET and Rust) and a hosted MCP server at mcp.zernio.com/mcp that signs in with OAuth. Its docs say the MCP server exposes every API endpoint as a tool.

Zernio vs Buffer: which is cheaper for 10 accounts?

Zernio. Ten accounts cost $48 a month on Zernio (2 free, 8 at $6) against $60 on Buffer Essentials or $120 on Buffer Team. Buffer gives you a finished dashboard, a free plan and approvals on Team; Zernio is built for developers wiring posting, inbox and ads into their own product.

Zernio vs PostSider pricing

Below 5 accounts Zernio is cheaper ($18 a month for 5, against PostSider's $20 Standard plan). From about 10 accounts up, PostSider's flat tiers are cheaper: $45 a month for 30 channels against $108 on Zernio. Zernio wins again for products with thousands of end-user accounts, where its rate falls to $1 per account.
