Upload-Post Alternatives: 5 APIs Compared
The best Upload-Post alternatives in 2026 are PostSider (when a person must approve what an agent posts), Zernio, formerly Late (a per-account API that also covers inbox and ads), Ayrshare (a mature API for SaaS products), Buffer (a free plan with MCP) and Blotato (when the agent has to generate the media too). Upload-Post itself is hard to beat on price, so leave for a missing feature, not to save money.
I build PostSider, one of the five, so read the rest with that in mind. Vendor facts were checked against each company’s own pricing and documentation pages on October 18, 2026.

What Upload-Post gets right
Upload-Post does one job: take a file or a text post and push it to as many social networks as possible through one call. Its docs describe uploads, transcoding and publishing across 22 networks, and the list reaches past the usual six into Reddit, Bluesky, Threads, Pinterest, Discord, Telegram and Google Business Profile.
The plans are simple and cheap:
| Plan | Monthly | Billed annually | Profiles | Uploads |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 2 | 10 a month, no TikTok |
| Basic | $24 | $16/mo | 5 | Unlimited |
| Professional | $50 | $33/mo | 25 | Unlimited, white-label included |
Upload-Post pricing and limits docs, checked October 18, 2026. Advanced ($147) and Business ($438) add more profiles.
The unit is the thing to understand. A profile holds one account on each network, so 5 profiles means up to 5 TikTok accounts, 5 Instagram accounts, 5 YouTube channels and so on. For one brand, a profile is the whole brand.
On the agent side, the hosted MCP server lives at mcp.upload-post.com/mcp. Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor connect with an API key; claude.ai connectors and ChatGPT use OAuth 2.1. You can also run @upload-post/mcp locally with npx. The free tier even includes 30 minutes of FFmpeg video processing, which matters if your pipeline needs to transcode before posting.
What 5 brands on 6 networks cost on each tool
Here is the worked example most comparison pages skip: one agency, 5 brands, each on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and X. That is 5 brands, or 30 connected accounts.
| Tool | Unit billed | What you need | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upload-Post | Profiles | 5 profiles (Basic) | $24 |
| PostSider | Channels | 30 channels (Pro) | $45 |
| Blotato | Accounts | 30 accounts (Creator, 40 included) | $97 |
| Zernio | Accounts | 30 accounts (2 free, 8 at $6, 20 at $3) | $108 |
| Buffer | Channels | 30 channels (Essentials / Team) | $180 / $360 |
| Ayrshare | Profiles | 5 profiles (Launch, 10 included) | $299 |
Computed from each vendor’s published monthly prices, checked October 18, 2026. Zernio excludes X API pass-through fees.
Upload-Post wins by a wide margin, and that is the honest headline. Every dollar the others charge above $24 buys something Upload-Post does not have: a calendar, approvals, an inbox, generation, or per-customer isolation. If you do not need any of those, stay.
At the small end, one brand on 3 networks, the order changes: Buffer is free, Upload-Post is free if you can live with 10 uploads and no TikTok, Zernio is $6, PostSider is $20.
When to stay on Upload-Post
Stay if your workflow is a pipeline with no human in it. An n8n or Make flow that renders a video and posts it everywhere is exactly what Upload-Post was built for, and the price per brand is the lowest in this list.
Stay if you need networks most schedulers skip. Upload-Post reaches Reddit, Discord, Telegram and Google Business Profile, and nothing in this list covers that spread for less than $24 a month.
Stay if you want white-label. Professional includes it at $50 a month for 25 profiles.
Leave when a client starts asking to approve posts before they go out. Upload-Post has no approval queue; its own n8n templates route review through a spreadsheet or a Telegram message. That works for one operator. It falls apart when the reviewer is a client who expects a button.
PostSider: approvals in the same queue the agent writes to
Best for: agencies and teams where an AI agent drafts and a person signs off before anything publishes.
PostSider is a social media dashboard and an agent bridge in one product. A post your agent creates over MCP lands in the same calendar the team uses and waits in the same approval step, so nobody builds a review screen or a spreadsheet gate. Chat clients connect to https://mcp.postsider.com/mcp with OAuth; terminal agents like Claude Code can run @postsider/mcp locally. The REST API and webhooks are on every paid plan; see the scheduler API page and the MCP server page.
The limits. PostSider costs more than Upload-Post for the same brands ($45 against $24 in the example above). Approvals start on Team at $35 a month for 10 channels. There is no inbox, no white-label and no video transcoding, and the only SDK is @postsider/node, so Python callers use the REST API directly. The built-in AI checks posts and rewrites captions; it does not generate content.
What you get for the difference: a calendar, queues, approvals with unlimited seats from Team up, CSV import on Pro, and 30+ networks (see all platforms). Human-in-the-loop patterns that are not a bottleneck shows how the approval step fits an agent workflow.
Zernio (formerly Late): when you need the inbox and ads too
Best for: developers building a product that posts, reads comments and DMs, and runs ads through one API.
Zernio bills per connected account: the first 2 are free, then $6 each for accounts 3 to 10, $3 for 11 to 100 and $1 past that. Its hosted MCP server at mcp.zernio.com/mcp signs in with OAuth and, per its docs, exposes every API endpoint as a tool. It ships SDKs in eight languages, including Python. It covers 15+ networks, fewer than Upload-Post, but adds comments, direct messages, ads and webhooks. I wrote up its tradeoffs in Zernio alternatives.
Ayrshare: the mature option for SaaS
Best for: a SaaS product where each end user connects their own social media accounts.
Ayrshare bills per profile, like Upload-Post, but at a different price: Premium is $149 a month for 1 profile, Launch $299 for 10, Business $599 for 30. It publishes to 13 networks, runs a hosted MCP server at api.ayrshare.com/mcp, and covers analytics, comments and messages. Approval is a requiresApproval flag your own code releases. You pay several times Upload-Post’s price for a longer track record and a wider API. The Ayrshare vs PostSider comparison goes into the detail.
Buffer: the free plan with MCP
Best for: a small team that wants a finished dashboard and a free starting point.
Buffer’s free plan covers 3 channels and includes API and MCP access, capped at 3,000 requests per 30 days. Its remote MCP server at mcp.buffer.com/mcp reads queues, creates and edits posts and pulls analytics. Essentials is $6 per channel a month; Team is $12 per channel and adds approvals and unlimited users. It reaches 12 networks, so the long tail Upload-Post covers is out of reach.
Blotato: when the agent must make the media
Best for: creators whose agent generates the image or video, then posts it.
Blotato Starter is $29 a month for 20 accounts and 1,250 AI credits for images, video and voice, across 9 networks with a hosted MCP server. API access needs a paid plan, because generating a key ends the trial. No approvals. Pick it if generation is the job; read the Blotato alternatives post if it is not.
Test these four things before you switch
- TikTok. If you are testing on Upload-Post’s free tier, TikTok will not post. Test TikTok on any alternative before you commit.
- One failed post. Send a post that breaks a network rule (an over-length caption on X works) and read the error each tool returns. A clear error saves hours later.
- A retry. Retry the failed post and confirm it does not publish twice.
- The reviewer. Have the person who approves posts try the approval step themselves. If that person is a client, a spreadsheet will not pass this test.
All my head-to-heads are on the compare page, and PostSider’s plans are on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a free Upload-Post alternative?
Yes. Buffer's free plan covers 3 channels and includes API and MCP access, capped at 3,000 API requests per 30 days. Zernio (formerly Late) is free for the first 2 connected accounts. Upload-Post's own free tier gives 10 uploads a month across 2 profiles, but TikTok posting needs a paid plan. PostSider has no free plan, only a 7-day trial without a card.
Does Upload-Post have an API and an MCP server?
Yes. Upload-Post is an API product first: a REST API at api.upload-post.com, a Python SDK and a JavaScript SDK, both published as upload-post, and a hosted MCP server at mcp.upload-post.com/mcp that accepts an API key or OAuth 2.1. There is also a local MCP package, @upload-post/mcp.
Upload-Post vs PostSider pricing
Upload-Post is cheaper for raw posting: Basic is $24 a month for 5 profiles with unlimited uploads, and each profile holds one account per network. PostSider bills per channel: $45 a month for 30 channels on Pro. Five brands on six networks cost $24 on Upload-Post and $45 on PostSider. PostSider adds a dashboard, a calendar and approvals on Team and up.
Which Upload-Post alternative has an approval workflow?
PostSider has approvals built into its dashboard from the Team plan at $35 a month, and posts an agent creates over MCP go through the same approval step. Buffer has approvals on its Team plan. Ayrshare offers an API flag and leaves the approval screen to you. Upload-Post itself has no approval queue.
