SocialRails Alternative: 4 Schedulers Compared

SocialRails Alternative: 4 Schedulers Compared

The SocialRails alternative to pick depends on what is missing. For more networks, approvals and agent access over OAuth, PostSider. For the most features per dollar with AI writing, Publer. For a free plan with MCP, Buffer. For deeper AI image and video generation, Blotato. If price per connection is all that matters, stay on SocialRails, because none of the four beats it.

I build PostSider, one of the four, so read this with that bias in mind. Vendor facts were checked against each company’s own pricing and help pages on October 18, 2026, with third-party listings noted where they disagree.

What SocialRails is

SocialRails is a social media scheduler with AI content creation built in, aimed at creators, freelancers and small teams. It publishes to 9 networks: Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Bluesky and Threads. Every plan gets all nine.

Pricing is flat per plan, capped by connections and workspaces:

PlanMonthlySocial media connectionsWorkspacesTeam members
Creator$29273Not listed
Business$4990105
Agency$992252515

SocialRails pricing page, checked October 18, 2026. Annual billing saves about 20%. Capterra, GoodFirms and other listings show older figures ($19, $39, $95 or $229 depending on the site); the vendor page is the one to trust.

There is no forever-free plan. Each paid plan has a trial, and third-party sites disagree on its length and on whether a card is required, so check the signup page before you plan around it.

The developer side is more than I expected from a creator tool. SocialRails documents a Public API on all three paid plans and an MCP server at socialrails.com/api/v1/mcp that rides on the same API: same keys, same scopes, same rate limits. You authenticate with a Bearer API key in the header, so the key lives in your client config. Free and trial accounts cannot connect.

Has SocialRails raised money? What is public

No funding round is public. I looked for a press release, an investor announcement or a database entry with a round and found none. Latka’s company profile lists no funding, a founding year of 2024 and a Netherlands headquarters, and Latka itself says its numbers come from interviews or estimates. A WeAreFounders interview describes SocialRails as a product built by a solo founder named Matt, based in the Netherlands.

That is everything I could confirm. Revenue figures float around on estimate sites; I left them out because none come from the company.

Is a bootstrapped solo-founder tool a risk? I run one too, so I am not the person to call it a red flag. The question worth asking of any small vendor, PostSider included, is practical: can you export your scheduled posts and media, and how fast could you reconnect your accounts somewhere else? Ask before you load a year of content in.

Price per connection: where SocialRails wins

Here is the monthly bill at SocialRails’ own plan limits, one connection meaning one connected social account on every tool:

ConnectionsSocialRailsPostSiderBlotatoBuffer Essentials
27$29 (Creator)$45 (Pro, 30)$97 (Creator, 40)$162
90$49 (Business)$90 (Ultimate, 100)$499 (Agency, 100)$540

Computed from each vendor’s published monthly prices, checked October 18, 2026. Publer is left out because its per-account price varies with plan and add-ons; run its plan selector with your own account count.

SocialRails is the cheapest in the table at both sizes, and by a lot. So the honest reason to switch is never price. It is one of three things: a network SocialRails does not publish to, a client who needs to approve posts, or an agent setup that needs more than a pasted API key.

When to stay on SocialRails

Stay if all your accounts are on its nine networks. That list covers what most creators and small businesses post to.

Stay if you want AI creation and scheduling in one tool at a flat price. Third-party reviews describe it generating captions, images and short-form video, and the Agency plan includes unlimited use of its AI Assistant.

Stay if nobody approves your posts. I found no approval workflow in SocialRails’ plan pages or in the reviews I read; for a solo creator that is no loss at all.

PostSider: more networks, approvals and an agent in the same queue

Best for: agencies and teams that post beyond the big nine networks and want an approval step that also catches what an AI agent writes.

PostSider covers 30+ networks, including Reddit, Mastodon, Discord, Telegram, Dev.to and Hashnode (see all platforms). Posts move through draft, review and approve in a shared calendar, with unlimited seats from the Team plan. The same queue is open to AI agents: Claude, ChatGPT and other chat clients connect to the hosted MCP server at https://mcp.postsider.com/mcp and sign in with OAuth, so no key gets copied into a config file. Terminal agents can run @postsider/mcp locally. Details on the MCP server page.

The limits. PostSider costs more per connection than SocialRails. Approvals start on Team at $35 a month for 10 channels, not on the $20 Standard plan. There is no content generator: the built-in AI checks posts and rewrites captions, and your own model does the writing. I explained why in I removed AI content generation from my social media product. No inbox, no listening, no SSO.

Publer: the most features per dollar

Best for: a small team that wants AI writing, image editing and approvals at a low price.

Publer’s free plan covers 3 accounts (X needs a paid plan). Professional starts at $5 a month for one account and Business at $10, priced per account after that. It publishes to 13 networks, including Google Business Profile, WordPress, Telegram and Mastodon. Business adds unlimited AI Assist, the API and an MCP server. Workspaces include a two-tier approval system. If SocialRails’ missing approvals are the problem and the budget is tight, start here. My Publer vs PostSider comparison has the plan detail.

Buffer: the free plan with MCP

Best for: someone who wants a free starting point and a dashboard their team already knows.

Buffer’s free plan covers 3 channels and includes API and MCP access, capped at 3,000 API requests per 30 days. Essentials is $6 per channel a month and Team $12 per channel with approvals and unlimited users. It reaches 12 networks and has a Community inbox for comments. Per-channel pricing gets expensive fast: 27 channels on Essentials cost $162 against SocialRails’ $29. The Buffer alternatives roundup compares it with six others.

Blotato: deeper generation for agents

Best for: creators whose agent writes, renders and posts video on its own.

Blotato Starter is $29 a month for 20 accounts with 1,250 AI credits for images, video and voice, across the same 9 networks SocialRails covers. It runs a hosted MCP server and n8n and Make nodes. The trial does not include the API: generating a key starts the paid plan. No approval workflow. Choose it over SocialRails only if generation is the main job.

A quick decision rule

  • Every account is on the nine big networks and nobody approves posts: stay on SocialRails.
  • A client must approve posts and budget is tight: Publer.
  • You post to Reddit, Mastodon, Discord or developer blogs, or an AI agent drafts into a queue a person approves: PostSider.
  • You want to start free: Buffer.
  • Your agent must generate the video itself: Blotato.

All my head-to-heads are on the compare page, and PostSider’s plans are on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free SocialRails alternative?

Yes. Buffer's free plan covers 3 channels and includes API and MCP access. Publer's free plan covers 3 social accounts, without X. SocialRails has no forever-free plan, only a trial on its paid plans. PostSider has no free plan either; it offers a 7-day trial without a card.

Does SocialRails have an API or an MCP server?

Yes. SocialRails documents a Public API on its Creator, Business and Agency plans, and an MCP server at socialrails.com/api/v1/mcp that runs over the same API with the same keys, scopes and rate limits. It authenticates with a Bearer API key. Free and trial accounts cannot connect.

How much money has SocialRails raised?

No funding round has been published that I could find. Latka's company profile lists no funding and a Netherlands headquarters, though Latka marks its figures as estimates. A WeAreFounders interview describes SocialRails as built by a solo founder based in the Netherlands.

SocialRails vs PostSider pricing

SocialRails is cheaper per connection: Creator is $29 a month for 27 connections and Business $49 for 90. PostSider costs $45 a month for 30 channels on Pro and $90 for 100 on Ultimate. PostSider covers 30+ networks against SocialRails' 9, and includes post approvals from its $35 Team plan.
