Mixpost Alternative: 4 Options Compared (2026)

Mixpost Alternative: 4 Options Compared (2026)

The best Mixpost alternative depends on why you are leaving. If you are tired of running the server, pick a hosted tool with flat channel pricing: PostSider if clients approve posts, Postiz cloud if you want AI images and video included. If you want to keep self-hosting but need more networks, Postiz is the other self-hosted option. Publer is the cheapest per account, and SocialBee wins if your week is evergreen recycling.

I build PostSider, so read everything below as a competitor’s view. Vendor facts were checked against each company’s own pricing pages and docs on October 18, 2026.

Checked October 18, 2026 against each vendor’s pricing page and docs. Monthly billing unless stated.

Mixpost also runs a hosted Mixpost Cloud with a 7-day trial. I could not confirm its prices in public sources, so it is not in the table.

What Mixpost really costs over three years

Mixpost’s headline is “one-time payment, no monthly fees.” That is true for the licence. It is not the whole bill.

Pro is $299 and includes one year of updates. After that the software keeps working on the version you have, and Mixpost’s blog lists the optional renewal at $239 a year (Enterprise: $1,199, renewal $959). Each licence covers one domain or subdomain. You will want the renewals, because Meta, TikTok and X change their APIs on their own schedule, and a scheduler frozen at last year’s version eventually stops publishing to one of them.

Read the table honestly. If you have one brand, many accounts and a person who already runs servers, Mixpost Pro is cheaper than any subscription here, and by a lot once you pass 10 accounts. The hosted tools win when nobody wants to own the bottom two rows.

The hidden work in self-hosting Mixpost

The hosting requirements in Mixpost’s docs are not trivial: PHP 8.3 or newer, MySQL or MariaDB, Redis 6.2 or newer, Laravel Horizon for queue workers kept alive by Supervisor, and a cron job every minute that actually publishes scheduled posts. The docs say Redis and Supervisor are not optional even for a single user. If the cron stops, posts stop, and nothing emails you.

Then the developer apps. On a self-hosted instance you bring your own:

  • X: a developer account, and Mixpost’s current guide recommends X’s pay-as-you-go API plan.
  • Meta: a Facebook app, plus Meta’s app review before people without a role in your app can connect Facebook or Instagram accounts. Mixpost says the review is required for SaaS use on Enterprise; for an agency whose clients connect their own accounts, plan for it.
  • TikTok: until your app passes TikTok’s audit, posts from it are private (SELF_ONLY) and only 5 users can post in 24 hours.

None of this is a reason to avoid Mixpost. It is the job you are signing up for, and most “self-hosted is free” posts leave it out.

When to stay on Mixpost

Stay if your server, cron and Horizon have been boring for a year. That is the hard part, and you have already done it.

Stay if your networks fit inside its 12 and your accounts are your own brand’s, so Meta and TikTok review never came up.

Stay if you are reselling it. Enterprise at $1,199 lets you run a white-label SaaS with billing on top, which no tool in this list allows.

Leave when a client wants to approve in a screen you did not have to maintain, when you need a network outside the 12 (Reddit, Discord, Telegram, Dev.to), or when the person who set up the server leaves.

PostSider: hosted, flat pricing, an agent and a human in one queue

Best for: agencies where an AI agent drafts posts and a client or teammate approves them.

PostSider is a social media dashboard and an agent bridge in one product. Mixpost’s MCP sends posts to needs_approval when a workspace requires it, which is a good design. PostSider does the same thing as a hosted service: a post your agent creates lands in the calendar your team uses and waits for review on Team and up. Chat clients connect to https://mcp.postsider.com/mcp with OAuth; terminal agents run @postsider/mcp locally; the REST API and @postsider/node are on every paid plan. See the MCP server page for setup.

Plans are Standard $20 (5 channels), Team $35 (10 channels, unlimited seats, approvals), Pro $45 (30, CSV import), Ultimate $90 (100), with 30+ networks on the platforms page. The limits: no free plan, no inbox, no AI media generation, and it is a hosted product only. If keeping data on your own server is a hard requirement, stay with Mixpost or move to Postiz.

Postiz: if you still want to self-host, or want AI media

Best for: teams who want 30+ networks and either a self-hosted instance or AI image and video credits in the cloud plan.

Postiz cloud runs $29, $39, $49 and $99 a month for 5, 10, 30 and 100 channels, with AI image and video credits from Team up. It has a hosted MCP server, a public API (its docs list 30 requests per hour) and a CLI. Self-hosted, it brings the same developer-app work as Mixpost plus PostgreSQL, Redis and Temporal. My Postiz alternatives post covers who should self-host it.

Publer: the cheapest per account

Best for: a solo marketer who wants AI writing, RSS automation and image editing without a server.

Publer’s free plan covers 3 accounts without X. Professional starts at $5 per account and Business at $10, and Business carries the API and MCP server. It publishes to 13 networks and has two-tier approvals in workspaces. Per-account pricing is cheap at 3 accounts and adds up at 30.

SocialBee: recycling by category, no API

Best for: a small business that recycles evergreen posts by content category.

SocialBee is $29 a month for 5 profiles, $49 for 10 and $99 for 25. Approvals start on Accelerate, and extra users cost $10 a month each. It has no public API and no MCP server, so if you used Mixpost’s API or MCP, this is a step back. The SocialBee vs PostSider comparison has the detail.

Moving off Mixpost in one afternoon

  1. List your scheduled posts before you cancel anything. On Pro, the API or the MCP server’s list-posts tool can pull them by status; on Lite, copy them from the calendar.
  2. Connect each account in the new tool through its own OAuth flow. Clients will need to click once.
  3. Recreate approvers first, so nothing publishes unreviewed during the switch.
  4. Re-import the backlog. On PostSider that is a CSV on Pro, or an agent replaying posts over MCP on any plan.
  5. Leave Mixpost running in read-only for a week, then turn off the cron.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free Mixpost alternative?

Yes. Buffer's free plan covers 3 channels with API and MCP access, and Publer's free plan covers 3 accounts without X. Postiz is free to self-host if you run the server yourself. Mixpost Lite is also free, but it publishes only to Facebook Pages, X and Mastodon. PostSider has no free plan, only a 7-day trial without a card.

Does Mixpost have an API or MCP server?

Yes, on Pro and Enterprise. Mixpost's docs list a REST API and an MCP server; when a workspace requires approval, a post scheduled through MCP waits in needs_approval instead of publishing. Lite has neither. API tokens carry the full authority of the user who created them and cannot be scoped to read-only.

Mixpost vs PostSider pricing: which costs less?

Over three years with updates, Mixpost Pro costs $299 plus two optional renewals at $239, so $777, plus your own server and developer apps. PostSider Team (10 channels, approvals, unlimited seats) costs $350 a year billed annually, so $1,050 over three years with hosting included. PostSider Standard is $200 a year for 5 channels but has no approvals.

How many platforms does Mixpost support?

Mixpost's pricing page lists 12 for Pro and Enterprise: Facebook Pages, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, Pixelfed and Google Business Profile. Lite covers 3. PostSider and Postiz each publish to 30+ networks.
